Hello to all of you who are visiting from Instagram. Hi to all of you who have me on your blog list....and if you don't follow me on Instagram you can find me @happylittlecottage1.
Today's Weekend Inspiration is brought to us by the super talented Chrissy at Sew Lux Fabrics. She has designed so many of my favorite zipper pouches and today we are going to make her Diamond Walk Pouch. Isn't this pretty? It reminds me of a beach in Florida.
If you need help with the pouch construction, Chrissy has a tutorial here. This is so much fun to put together and is a fun way to ease your way into making dresden blades if you've never done it before.
Pouches are the perfect weekend project. Once you get over your zipper phobia it should take no more than a few hours from start to finish. They are the perfect use for mini charms or your stash of little scraps. I'm still looking for the perfect zipper charm to add to this one!
You can find the kit at Sew Lux Fabric, along with so many other cute kits. Each kit has enough materials to make 2 pouches, so it's a great way to make something for you and a friend. Of course you could always make both for a gift :-)
Since I only made one pouch, I am giving away the pattern and materials for the second Coral Sea bag . All you need to add is a zipper. Just leave a comment below and tell me what you are working on this weekend. I will randomly choose a winner on Monday!
P.S. I also made this with her original kit using Lil Red. So cute. Just wanted to show how adorable this pouch is using other fabrics.
COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!! I will announce the winner in Friday's post :)
Good Morning - What a cute pouch...I LOVE the fabrics! This weekend I will be working on my scrappy crochet blanket using up my leftovers of cotton yarns from dishcloth knitting...and crocheting potholders (making more leftovers of cotton yarns)...lol, using that super cool pattern where the potholder folds in on itself to make a double thickness - luv it! Happy Earth Day :) Thanks for the giveaway <3

I would love to be sewing but my allotments and garden need so much attention at this time of year. I am going to Uttoxeter tomorrow and hope to buy some goodies at the quilt and stitch show. I have never made a pouch but that is a cute pattern. Perhaps there will be something at the show.
ReplyDeleteI just received this beautiful line of fabric! Now I know what I am going to make with it! I am trying to finish up my nephew's quilt for his graduation gift. I'm using Varsity by Sweetwater. It's the perfect fabric line for a great guy quilt!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend I will be finishing a zipper pouch, cutting fabrics for a little bag for my little girl and enjoying the sunshine. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThis is just sweet! I was at that shop yesterday -- my first visit! This weekend I will be working on a quilt for donation to a children's charity. I will now go check out the tutorial. Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteA Christmas quilt. I'm so glad to see you blogging again, I've missed you π

Debbie, you are going to get me in trouble with this little gem of a project. I'm totally smitten and now must make one immediately! I'm supposed to be working on a triple set of baby quilts for sweet twins and a new great niece! I'll just find enough time in the day....or into the night at this house! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI work every weekend, but in my spare time I hope to paper piece some tea cup blocks!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great little pouch. I love it in both fabrics! This weekend I'll be catching up on my Splendid Sampler blocks. Once that is done, I'll be working on a long overdue rag quilt for my mother-in-law.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, this reminds me of mermaid scales! πππI'm working on binding a quilt, and I have the perfect zipper for this bag!!!!

ReplyDeleteI love pouches and this pattern and fabric is so sweet! This weekend I hope to make a dent in my grandchildren quilts (quilts that I've chosen to make for the grands of some of my friends!). I have 6 in various stages of completion and hope to have them finished by the end of April. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a nine patch wedding quilt but I'm pinning this to make in the very near future!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not going to be able to sew this weekend. Instead I'm volunteering to work with my local quilt shop. Our town is hosting a big festival and they need extra hands for the day!

ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, this is such an innovative project! Yours are just fabulous, all made up. This weekend I'll be machine quilting a new quilt, and I hope to make a pincushion or two, just for fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a tee-shirt quilt for my niece's graduation next month; I don't enjoy working with tee-shirts very much, but she will love it. These pouches are so cute and I have the original Lil Red kit that I plan on making once I finish this quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou make such pretty things Debbie! I love this pattern and these pretty fabrics. This weekend I will be sewing blocks for my new sampler quilt, and making some crochet flowers. Happy weekend!

ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable. I have several minis sitting around looking begging to be used in a project. "Soon," I whisper, not having any idea what I will do with them. Now, I have a good idea, thanks to you!
