Crochet Hook and Yarn Block

Hi! Welcome to week two of the Great Granny Along! I am so excited to sew along with you using
Lori Holt's super cute new book Great Granny Squared. Lori is the queen of cute, and also is an amazing teacher and writer. Her instructions are easy to follow, and you learn so many techniques that make quilting even more fun!!

This week we are making the Crochet Hook and Yarn Block. I was the first one to raise my hand to make this one, because as you probably know, my cute and talented daughter Becky is an amazing crocheter and I wanted to make something for her.

This is a fun block to make, and takes no time at all!!

The sweet ladies at the Fat Quarter Shop generously shared a copy of the book to give away to one of you! Just leave me a comment below to say "Hi", or to let me know what crafty things you are working on right now and you will be entered to win. Please make sure to include your email address so I can contact you if you are the lucky winner!  I will pick a name next Monday!!!

For a chance at another prize, post a photo or two (or more) of your Crochet Hook and Yarn Block to the Flickr Great Granny Squared group. Winners will receive Lori's cute Stitchy Fun Sampler Pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop.

Head over and visit my friend Kerri at Lovely Little Handmades, and the ladies over at Clover and Violet for another chance to win the book, and to see the super cute blocks they stitched up!

So, are you in? You can find the PDF here. If you missed last week, or want to find out where to go next week for more fun, you can go here and get all the scoop. Now go pick out some cute fabric :)
Good luck and Happy Sewing!!!

  2. I just want to say that I really, really enjoy the weekly Sew-A-Longs and especially enjoy seeing how each person sewed their blocks. They are all amazing.
I've also just finished 2 baby quilts that I hope to deliver this week.

  3. I am definitely up for a sew along soon. I had a few projects to finish up this week, so I wasn't able to make the time. pssst. The book in your picture {great granny squared}....is the pattern on the front cover in there? eeeep That's now on my to do list. Wouldn't that be fun with Christmas fabrics too?

    1. Yes!! The pattern for the quilt is the main focus for the book, along with some other really cute projects. You need the book to do the sew along. The book is brimming with color and creativity!!!! I love it :)

  6. I'd love to win a copy of Lori's newest book! My year has been so busy so far with 2 major trips and a move into a new house that my online time and sewing time have been super limited. It's my first Monday in my new house, and I'm ready to get everything in order so I can play again!
