A Special Visit

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you probably know that I ADORE Susan Branch. She is on a book tour for her amazing new book "A Fine Romance" and one of her stops was in my area.
So we hopped into the car with our super cute nametags and travelled to one of the cutest little towns in our area.
To this little book store that reminds me so much of "The Shop Around The Corner" in the movie "You've Got Mail" (probably one of my top 5 favorite movies). Lots of girlfriends were waiting for Susan and Joe to arrive.
And here they come in the Susan and Joe mobile. Poor Joe had to parallel park in front of the bookstore. I guess after driving around England for 2 months on the wrong side of the road this was probably no big deal :)
After waiting in line for just a little while, I finally got to meet Susan! (and Petey). She is just as warm and friendly as she is on her blog. I would have loved to have chatted for hours with her about England and Martha's Vineyard and life in general.  You can tell she has a genuine interest in everything around her, and that it was makes her such a wonderful writer and artist (and person)!!
 Look at the hearts!!!! :)
I am so happy I had the chance to meet Susan, and am now well into reading the book. It is a book meant to be savored chapter by chapter with a cup of tea (or coffee) and time to dream.

  2. Oh! I saw this bookstore, and the queues, on the F.O.S.B. page and on Susan's blog, The Learned Owl! As I live in Wales I will not have the opportunity to meet Susan on her book signing tour, but I do have my own copy, and another one on the way. Long story, but the second one will be a signed, although not personalised, copy. I, too, blogged about "A Fine Romance" and Susan! I already have my 2014 wall calendar. Isn't it wonderful to be part of her wonderful world?

  4. Oh, wow! I am more than just a little envious! I keep hoping she will swing south on the return trip to MV and be somewhere that is handy to us in Knoxville. You were very fortunate! Congratulations on being part of the welcoming group for her!

  5. How exciting. I love her as well. Love her van. Can't wait to read her book. I loved the book store in that movie as well. Meg Ryabn was so cute in her story hat.

  7. It's been years since I read one of her books but I loved every minute of it. It looks like I should bookmark a new blog and then head off to the library! Thanks for the gentle reminder!

  8. I didn't know that you lived in Hudson! I LOVE Hudson and have been there many times (my husband's corporate office is in Twinsburg). I, too, am a SB fan and can't wait to get my hands on her new book. Love her blog (and I love yours too). Glad to see that you are sewing again. Your quilts have been the inspiration to get me quilting again. Now, if we could just quit traveling long enough to sew!

  9. You DID NOT get to meet her!!! I'm so jealous right now. I have her new book on order, all her others are on the bookshelf in my kitchen. In fact, it's about time to take down the "Autumn" book and make some molasses cookies. Lucky you!

  14. Your happy quilt is so cheerful. We could do with some summer here in England. I am already wearing jeans, socks, and layers every day to keep warm. I am even thinking of putting the heating on!

  15. I had the opportunity to be at the book signing in San Luis Obispo. It was so much fun. We waited in line for three hours, but chatting with so many like-minded people was part of the fun.
I just discovered your blog and love your projects.

    Thanks!
