I have an entire Pinterest board devoted to crochet. I call it "Wish I Could Crochet". AND
I have been wanting an issue of Mollie Makes since it hit the news stands last year. But I have had a "no magazines" rule for myself for quite awhile (I am a recovering magazine junkie!!) I could no longer resist the temptation when they offered this cute little kit with the purchase of the magazine.
After spending an hour enjoying page after page of the most gorgeous photography and lovely crafts, I set to the task of re-teaching myself how to crochet. I started by reading the instructions in the magazine,
but written patterns are a thorn in my side. I get brain freeze.
So I hopped over to Attic24, where Lucy "talked" me step by step through making this cute flower. And then I made another. And I realized that I can, in fact, crochet!! YAY!! I already have a project in mind and have to hunt for some yarn to make it!
I am just learning to crochet too...a few pics on my latest blog post. I find it easier than I thought it would be. My best teacher is YOU TUBE. I have found it so much easier to use visuals. Good luck....and think of all the endless cute things we can work on!!!
ReplyDeleteOk..I knew I liked you!! I am also a magazine junkie...except I am not in the recovering stage yet. I am still addicted. :)
ReplyDeleteI bought this magazine the other day as well and have big plans to figure this super cute crochet flower out. I believe the words "if it kills me" may have been mentioned as well. :)
Happy Mothers Day wishes for you too!
Hugs and Smiles,
Shann
I broke down and bought that magazine for the same reason!! I can't understand the pattern... have never been able to understand a pattern, so thanks so much for that link. Your flowers are adorable!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Gorgeous roses! I am quite new to crochet, having only made blankets and cushions so far I really want to try making some flowers! Love Mollie Makes too :) Jenny x
ReplyDeleteI am a magazine addict! I wonder if I could follow your example and try to kick this very expensive habit. My other confession is that I find it very hard to throw them away. My current addictions are Country Living, Country Homes and Interiors and Homes and Antiques.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I bought my first copy of Mollie Makes. What is the definition of a magazine? Could this count as a paperback book ??!!! Xx
Well Done Debbie! A whole new world opened up for you, and even more competing challenges for your time! Sew or crochet? Crochet or sew? Decisions!!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful, i too learnt thanks to Attic 24 and her clear photos and instructions - a revelation!
Happy Mother's Day and happy crocheting!
Gill xx
Hello Debbie, I'm a new follower to your blog.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to hear you have taken up crochet but be careful it is addictive! I've been doing crochet since I was a little girl and I can't get enough of it. It is amazing all the delightful things you can make with crochet and those little rose brooches you've made look lovely. I must have a look at that magazine "Mollie Makes" it sounds interesting.

DeleteHow lovely are your flowers!! I learnt to crochet from Attic 24's website too - she's fantastic. Not sure a ripple blanket was the right first project to pick though !!! Forgot to post a comment saying I bought one of your lovely pincushions and it is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I am so happy you like your pincushion!! And I love that we are all Attic 24 fans!!
