A scrappy trip around the world. Peer pressure is a terrible thing :) There are so many awesome scrappy trip around the world quilts being made in blogland right now that I had to jump in. I really didn't want to. No, wait, I did want to, but didn't think I had time.
I was finishing cutting flags for a bunting banner, and realized that I always have a 3" strip left over. I have a drawer full of 3" strips
and a tub full of orphaned jelly roll strips.
These blocks are fun to make and a great way to use up any left over jelly rolls you may have lying around. You can find the tutorial here. Please don't blame me if you suddenly get the urge to take a trip!

Flea Market Fancy
This story starts in the fall when I went to the craft show in the woods with my Mom and Becky. We were drinking hot apple cider and taking a break, when we spotted a girl with the cutest patchwork bag. Becky said she loved it and really wanted one. I thought "what a great Christmas gift" and started planning the fabric and how I was going to duplicate the bag we saw.
She said she wanted something with a vintage vibe, and Flea Market Fancy popped into my mind right away. I have wanted to work with this fabric and this was the perfect project. I think this blue posie print is my favorite . I also made all the ladies in my family a metal frame coin purse using the leftover fabrics. I wish I would have thought to take a photo of them all together because they were really cute!
I have been seeing pictures of a quilt block that has been called both "Road to Tennessee" and X's and O's. I am going to call it "Hugs and Kisses" because I almost sign off a text or email with xoxo. :) I really wanted to try my hand at making some, and I still had a ton of Flea Market Fancy leftover.
These blocks are so much fun to make! I love how the colors of FMF work so well together! This is the finished top, and I am going to do a scrappy binding and back it with the blue posie. I think this is going to be a birthday gift for a sweet someone who is starting to collect Fiesta Ware. These colors reminded me so much of that dishware and I know (hope) she will love it.

Quilt Week
It seems like I blinked and it is already the SECOND week of January. How did that happen??? I have to confess and tell you that 2 of my 3 trees are still up. I know, I know...but I really love the light and sparkle on these long wintery nights.
I have been sewing like a maniac, trying to catch up on orders after not sewing at all during Christmas week. I also totally cleaned out my sewing room. That was a BIG job, but I love all the extra space and being able to find everything without saying bad words :) I finished a quilt for the shop. The Sweetest Thing. Love it. I have been making bunting banners with it, and really wanted to add a coordinating quilt. I just did a simple patchwork, creamy border, scrappy binding and crosshatch quilting.
I also added to my State Fair quilt top. These are such fun little blocks to make and I was happy to have a chance to make a few more blocks. I hope to make more blocks this weekend...in between taking down decorations and attacking dust bunnies!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
