Holiday Weekend

Hi!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It is always such a treat to have a 4 day weekend. We had a super yummy turkey day. Two turkeys. One roasted with stuffing and one deep fried. Both were delicious. Pie and coffee and board games finished the evening.

Friday is the day we start decking our halls and eating turkey sandwiches and turkey soup. We finished 2 trees and put up the Dickens Village. There are always stacks of boxes everywhere, and Christmas music playing. I have to admit it is one of my favorite days of the year.

Saturday we made my parents' house cute and festive, and then went to dinner and window shopping.

Sunday found me in my sewing room catching up on orders, and making these metal frame coin purses. They are so much fun to make and I have stacks of fabric waititng to become cute little purses. (ssshhhh, they are Christmas presents!!)

I definitely need to bring my camera into the shop to have it tuned up. Sorry for the icky photos!

Need an idea of what to do with your fabric scraps???

How about a Christmas ornament? We bought inexpensive clear glass ornaments on sale at Michaels, and my daughter mod podged Ruby scraps onto them.  They look so cute on our tree and make me smile every time I see them.

The Santa Clause is ready to play in the DVD, so I am going to grab a quilt and watch one of my favorite Christmas movies.  Do you have a favorite??

Thirty Days of Thankful

I just realized that I haven't posted anything new here since November 1st! I have doing a Thirty Days of Thankful over on my Facebook page, and it is such a wonderful thing to do.  Thinking about all of the things I am thankful for each and every day really gives me a positive attitude and makes me realize just how blessed I am.

I have been sewing up a storm for my shop and now think that I can make a pincushion with my eyes closed. These little guys are really popular and make great gifts! I had a chance to add a new Marmalade quilt to the shop. Simple patchwork, white border, scrappy binding and diagonal quilting. I LOVE the backing fabric so much.

Thanks to Trish over at Notes of Sincerity, who featured Happy Little Cottage on her fun Christmas Shopping posts! I have officially started my Christmas shopping AND I am making a few gifts, which I will post about soon!

I have more to chat about, but I really need to run upstairs and get ready for work!

Have a great weekend, and see you next week!!

Sandy

Because you are seeing this post, it means I finally have power after 2 days of no heat and lots of candles. In between the sound of my sewing machine humming to catch up on orders, I am hearing the constant whine of chainsaws, as they chop up the huge trees that fell in my neighborhood during the storm.  Luckily, there was little to no property damage, and no one was hurt.

It is hard to believe that a hurricane could actually reach Cleveland, Ohio. It was a  frightening evening as the wind picked up speed and power went out. The howling of the wind is something I will never forget. My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering in New Jersey and New York.  If you can, please consider making a donation to the Red Cross.  I have witnessed them in action, and they truly are a blessing to people in need.

On a lighter note, here is a custom order I am working on. One of these pincushions is cute....a whole big pile of them is adorable!!!  I've been having fun using scraps of different fabric lines that I don't normally use in my shop.

Not much to report on the Schnibble front. I really missed my sewing machine for the two days I was without power.

We will be celebrating Halloween on Saturday as it was postponed due to the storm.  I hope our jack-o-lanterns last a few more days!!
