Isn't this little owl sweet? Especially since it is made with The Simple Life! I have been waiting for months for this fabric to be available, and I ordered yards of it and it was delivered yesterday! I was torn between stacking and admiring it's cuteness, or cutting right in and making something. :)
Here's the back of the owl. Bunting banners! I cannot get over how adorable these prints are!
Ginghams. Florals. Polka Dots. And the cutest prints!! Aqua. Red. Pink. My head is exploding with ideas!
The owl pattern is by Retro Mama and is really fun to sew! That's it for now. I have a stack of fabric waiting for me!

Happy Little Cottage
I pinned this tutorial months ago and finally sat down and made my own happy little cottage. A Halloween cottage! I have it hanging on my kitchen cupboard, and smile every time I look at it. This was a joy to make, and Retro Mama's tutorial is really well written and easy to follow! I am really enjoying these smaller projects, and the applique was so much fun! I cannot wait to make one two three a hundred more :)

Hoops
Over the weekend I had a chance to finally make one of the projects from Love Patchwork. The first one I was really inspired by was this cute embroidery hoop.
I knew I wanted it to match the Dresden Plate I made a few weeks ago, so I grabbed some Ruby scraps and set to work. I actually used some fusible interfacing for the flags, which made stitching them much easier than using pins. I also wish I had made the flags just a tiny bit larger. I used some bakers twine, which I adore, and some teeny weeny clothes pins. I printed out some words on cardstock and then stitched a border on each one. It was a fun and quick project!
And these are the hoops I mentioned the other day. I made these for a sweet customer who wanted hoops to match the Apple of My Eye bunting banner she purchased from my shop. The fabrics are a mix of Apple of My Eye and a few vintage linens. These will definitely add a bit of sunshine to the walls of her home!
Hoops really are a fun way to add some color to your walls, and if you don't glue them, they are easy to switch out if you get tired of the colors. I wish I would have thought of this before I reached for the glue gun, though the wood hoops are relatively inexpensive :)

Candy Corn Colors
I love chatting with you! Who else can I talk to who understand how exciting it is to get a new cutting mat (or new scissors, or fabric, or yarn)! Most of the people in my real life (with the exception of my daughter) kind of glaze over(and sometimes make me feel like I am weird) when I talk about quilting and fabric and etsy and pinterest and blogs. Thanks for being excited about my new cutting mat!! All of these things make me happy and make up the days of my life. I am pretty sure most of you feel the same way!
I had fun making a few fall inspired projects the other night. The fabric is DSQuilts, and the colors and prints remind me of a flea market in the fall. The pin cushion was a little gift for my sister's birthday and the bunting banner is for the shop. Taking photos was so much fun using some of the decorations that are turning up all over my house!
I get to start on a couple of really fun and new for me projects! I am going to do a set of embroidery hoops to match a bunting banner for one of my sweet etsy customers. And I am making a toddler bed size quilt out of some DSQuilts fabrics that I used last fall when I first opened my shop. I loved working with this fabric back then, and I still love it!

News From The Sewing Room
I apologize in advance. This may be the most boring post ever.
You can tell that I lead a pretty unexciting life when I am insanely excited about a new cutting mat. It's so shiny and smooth and it isn't chewing up my rotary blades for breakfast. It also isn't bright purple! YAY!!
I finished a quilt top for a customer's sweet little girl! I will be sandwiching and quilting tomorrow! I have found a ton of new vintage sheets and they are so fun to mix and match. She also ordered a matching bunting banner. CUTE!!
Happy mail. A Sweet Shoppe charm pack and a half yard of the most adorable aqua gingham! I was thinking a table runner when I ordered it, but now I am not so sure. This is yelling "make me into something for a baby!!!" Hmmmmm.
I hope that you are still awake after reading this.
Oh, and Angela in Oklahoma posted that she saw a copy of Love Patchwork at Barnes and Noble just in case any of you here in the U.S.A. are looking for a copy!! Thanks Angela :)

Bunting!!
I spent a little time this weekend making a Christmas bunting for my shop, and playing with Photoshop. The bunting banner is a cute mix of snowflakes and polka dots in my favorite red and white fabric. The embroidery hoop was borrowed from my daughter for the photo shoot.
I would make this into a bumper sticker if I could!

More Weekend Sewing
I love long holiday weekends!!
In between a family gathering to eat burgers and pasta salad, and a final trip to the water park, we had a soggy, humid Sunday. Off to the sewing room!!!!!
I finally made some design boards. I have had these bookmarked forever! I made three from one 20 x 28 piece of foam board that I bought at Target for $2.00. 2 are 10 x 14 and one is 14 x 20. The trim is all Ruby ♥ Head over to Bee In My Bonnet for the tutorial. Lori is awesome!! I don't know how I lived without these handy little things!!
I also have been working on a Log Cabin. I am using fabric by the awesome Lori (see above). This is the Millie's Closet jelly roll that I won last month! Jelly rolls make log cabins easy peasy!!!
I also started another quilt inspired by one that is featured in Love Patchwork.(Thank you all so much for all your sweet comments about the magazine!! You are sooooo nice!!) It is a mix of cute nine patch blocks and blocks of white with a small block in the center. I am using my Marmalade jelly roll for this one. Lots of fun colors to play with!! The blocks are set on point and I am a bit nervous about that part. Wish me luck!!!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! Tell me what you've been up to!
