As you could tell from my last post, I couldn't wait to get my hands on my thrifted vintage sheets and make something.
I love the way patterns that really shouldn't go together, look so fun as a bunting banner. My rotary cutter is getting a workout this weekend. More bunting, a quilt, a pillow and a pin cushion are on the cutting board. Who knew a trip to the thrift store would be such a source of sewing inspiration!
The bunting banner is listed in my shop!

Color!!
Happy Friday! Another week has absolutely flown by. Another MONTH has flown by too! Agh! I've been busy with work, reading The Hunger Games and finishing this...
I am absolutely in love with this fabric! Cheerful. Happy. Fun. And I love the backing fabric!!
I think this would be so cute in a little girl's room
I am listing this quilt is my shop at reduced price due to the puckery quilting and a few issues I had with the binding. I really don't think it will matter after a few more washings, and it is such a cute quilt.
Look what I found at the thrift store!
The motherlode of vintage sheets! I can hardly wait to turn these into sweet and adorable quilts, pillows and bunting banners! I might even try a pin cushion. I am secretly hoping for rain so that I can camp out in the sewing room all weekend!!
I hope you all have a great weekend. And I hope it doesn't rain where you live if you want to spend time outdoors :)

To Wash or Not To Wash?
That is the question. What is your take on quilts?
Do you like them all ironed and pristine?
Or do you like the washed, crinkly look?
If you were buying a quilt, which would you prefer? I am wondering whether to keep using warm and natural cotton batting, or if I should switch to a poly batting. I usually photograph my quilts and send them unwashed, but I am wondering if my customers are expecting them to stay smooth even though I mention in my item description that they will crinkle and pucker with the first wash. Any thoughts would be so helpful!
Thanks!!

First Day of Summer
Hello! Welcome to Summer Spring here at Happy Little Cottage. It is 80 degrees and I am wearing flip flops! YAY! It seems like forever since I last posted and I feel like a bad blogger :) I have been sewing lots of cute things and watching Downton Abbey. I have one episode left and am putting off watching it because I don't want it to end!
Here's a peak of what I've been up to!
A new Ruby quilt. I still LOVE sewing with this fabric. I love the way it pairs with white kona cotton.
And a new Happy Little Pin Cushion color way. I am calling it Americana! These are some of the reds and blues from Pam Kitty Morning.
I have a quilt in the works with Pam Kitty Morning. I am using the same blocks as the Ruby quilt and love the way it looks completely different with Pam Kitty.
I really need to go outside and enjoy some of this gorgeous weather, but I have to admit that I really love the time I spend in the sewing room!
How's the weather where you live?

A Little Something Extra
I recently received a note with an etsy order asking if I could add an embroidered message to a quilt she purchased for her new baby niece. I have no idea if she reads my blog, but of course I would love to add an embroidered message!!
What do you think?
I think this turns an already cute and vintage style quilt into something totally handmade and personal. I hope she loves it too!

Super Tuesday
Today is Super Tuesday at my house. My baby is 21! On March 6, 1991, I gave birth to THE most wonderful daughter a mother could ask for! The past 21 years have gone by in a blink, and I now have a best friend as well as a daughter.
The day started with pancakes with sprinkles. And then I had fun decorating her cake with MORE sprinkles and a bunting banner!! Then it was off to dinner at Carrabba's. The fried zucchini appetizer is the birthday girl's favorite. Mine too!!

Thursday Tid-Bits
Just thought I would drop in and say hello. This post is just a bunch of random tid bits of what's happening in my world this week.
Pam Kitty Morning. A different colorway than I used last time. But I LOVE making patchwork and dresden plate pillows with it. This fabric reminds me of everything I love about the cottage look. Beadboard, benches, gingham, mason jars, white daisies and quilts. I think these pillows would be so perfect on a front porch! I have a quilt in mind, but need time to work on it.
And no cottage would be complete without a bunting banner.
Speaking of bunting banners, have you seen Downton Abbey???? The episode at the fair with all of those white fairy lights and bunting banners? I felt weak at the knees!!! You have to watch this if you like beautiful locations, gorgeous costumes and wonderful acting. I finished Season 1 Episode 4 last night. Cannot wait to watch more.
Warm weather. My crocuses are already in bloom! Daffodils are springing up! YAY! I actually got to wear just a sweater outside yesterday after work. Not long until I can break out the flip flops and paint my toenails pink!!
Just finished a cup of coffee, and the sewing machine is calling. I hope you are all having a wonderful Thursday!
