Candy Corn Colors

I love chatting with you!  Who else can I talk to who understand how exciting it is to get a new cutting mat (or new scissors, or fabric, or yarn)! Most of the people in my real life (with the exception of my daughter) kind of glaze over(and sometimes make me feel like I am weird) when I talk about quilting and fabric and etsy and pinterest and blogs.  Thanks for being excited about my new cutting mat!! All of these things make me happy and make up the days of my life.  I am pretty sure most of you feel the same way!

I had fun making a few fall inspired projects the other night. The fabric is DSQuilts,  and the colors and prints remind me of a flea market in the fall.  The pin cushion was a little gift for my sister's birthday and the bunting banner is for the shop. Taking photos was so much fun using some of the decorations that are turning up all over my house!

I get to start on a couple of really fun and new for me projects! I am going to do a set of embroidery hoops to match a bunting banner for one of my sweet etsy customers.  And I am making a toddler bed size quilt out of some DSQuilts fabrics that I used last fall when I first opened my shop.  I loved working with this fabric back then, and I still love it!

  2. I sooo know what you mean!!! Very few of my friends do any sewing or cooking for that matter, forget it on the gardening or canning! Ha The nice thing is they all enjoy any handmade gifts or food so all is not lost. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of your fall things. I hope to get a few fallish sewing done soon. I am trying to work on UFO's and Christmas for now.

Adorable banner and pin cushion:>) I have found blogging to be the very best way to find kindred spirits who share my love of creating and my excitement over the little things that make me smile. Your creations are so wonderful, it's always a joy to see what has come out of your sewing room!

  14. I love the colors. But then fall is my favorite season so I love anything in the shades of autumn. Puts me in the mood to create something. I cannot sew, but I got a sewing machine from an old friend; so this winter, I am planning on TRYING my hand at making a small quilt. I just bought pinking shears, so hey, I am on my way huh?

    1. Hi Joy! Thanks!! You will have so much fun once you get that sewing machine humming!! Can I suggest that if you want to make a quilt to purchase a rotary cutter? You can purchase a set by Fiskars that includes a cutter, a mat and a ruler. It isn't very expensive and is a great investment if you want to quilt :)

    2. Hi Debbie! Thank you for the advice. I have been wanting to ask you; what do you mean by a mat? Are those what you made a few weeks ago? I wanted to ask then what they were for, but was a bit embarrassed. Thank you in advance for your help and ALWAYS for your inspiration!!!
P.S. I live in Ohio too!

    4. Debbie: Thank you for clarifying what a mat is. I looked back at your older posts and I was thinking of your design mats. What do you use that for?
I live in Greenfield, Ohio. It is a very small village that is about one hour south of Columbus. Wish we lived closer, I would ask for sewing lessons!
