Summer In The City

I hope all of you had a wonderful 4th!! It has been really really HOT where I live, so the the past few days have been spent in the pursuit of beating the heat! (We don't have central A/C in our old house)

July 4th was spent at the Doubletree Hotel, where we got a super great deal!! We promptly turned the A/C as low as it would go!! Their rooms are so nice, and their beds are super comfy!! Pillow Top mattresses and down comforters and pillows! We spent the afternoon in the pool and the evening in our chilly room, reading my book "The Forgotten Garden" which is a great summer read!!

The next day we were off to our local water park!! Lots of sunscreen on hand, we claimed our spot

and then into the wave pool. You are able to bring the low to the ground chairs right into the water, so that's what we did.

Wait...what is that in the pool??

They are trying to beat the heat too!

They walked into the pool during the no-wave phase, but soon the waves started and they surfed their way to the pool's edge.

Right now I am typing this with a fan blowing right on me, eating a delicious frozen pina colada fruit bar. YUMMY!! If you have an Aldi's nearby, I highly recommend buying a box, or two...

It's supposed to be the last day of extreme heat, and then we are back to perfect summer weather YAY!!

Happy rest of the weekend!!

  1. Oh do I feel for you! We had no power from Fri. eve until Sunday eve. last weekend and just about died. We were going to stick it out as long as possible before going to a hotel but thankfully we got power restored. The temps here have been up to or near 100 for about a week now. Looking forward to cooling down, hopefully you get some relief too!

  2. The heat is awful, isn't it? Supposed to be 103 here tomorrow. I honestly thank God for air conditioning every day and yes, I try to stay inside as much as possible. Hope you make out okay and things cool off soon. Hugs ~ Mary

  3. Oh what I'd do for just a tiny wee bit of that heat! It's rainy and dull AGAIN today, in fact we have the central heating on right now... so much for summer!!
Thoroughly enjoyed The Forgotten Garden - a really good read. Hope things cool down to normal for you again soon, in the meantime just keep up with those frozen Pina Colada bars ;-)

  8. You thought of a great way to beat the heat. I used to love my spot at our water park. Do you think it would be weird to show up with no kids in tow? Maybe I can talk my 20 year old into going this summer! Stay cool!

  10. Too cute to see those duckies floating about with you! Oh my. Yes. It has been miserable hot in my part of the world, too. Thankfully, we've had a bit of a reprieve this week. Great idea heading to the Doubletree!
