I have been in a bit of a slump for quite some time. A job loss threw me for a loop, but in the long run I think it may have been a good thing. It was an office job with decent pay, but a miserable working atmosphere. I have since found a wonderful part time job, but the pay is not so wonderful. I love being home and I especially love having time to be creative. I have been moodling the idea of my own Etsy shop for quite some time so I could possibly earn some extra income doing something I love. My own happy little cottage industry! I have been quilting and sewing in order to stock my shop and I have loved every minute! I am hoping to open my "doors" within the next few weeks.
So back to the charm packs. I made a baby quilt and a sweet matching quilted pillow. The vintage linens are combined with crisp modern white. This reminds me of something that should be hanging on a clothes line out in the country. I am hoping it will soon be in a cute little one's nursery.
Then I bought some of the Sugar Creek fabric by Denyse Schmidt.
I loved playing with this fabric. It is adorable. I cut it into 5" squares, 2 1/2" squares and 3" strips, and the patterns stand up to any size.
Someone once said "Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life". I think they are right.
Lovely fabrics and I love what you have done with them . Sounds like you had great fun. Looking forward to your etsy shop.
ReplyDeleteI love all the things you make, and these cushions are so fresh and gorgeous. It's true that if you love what you do it's not really like work. Good luck setting up your shop, I look forward to seeing it. Have a lovely week, Debbie.

Dear Debbie.
ReplyDeleteMy sweet package of DS fabric arrived over the weekend. Thank you soo much. It was soo sweet of you!! And what I create from it will be extra special.
Your quilted pillow is soo cute. I love the binding you added to it. Your little shop is going to be precious and I can hardly wait to see it. :0)
Have a great week and thank you again.
love. Trish
I love those pillows. Can't wait til you open your shop. I have an account with Etsy but have never opened the shop that I planned on.
ReplyDeleteI left a school job that I had for just one year for a job of being a Nanny to a little girl. On the second day the mom decided that she didn't want to be away from her baby. Geez, and I quit a good paying job and in this economy.
A week later I have a new Nanny job and I think I love it. My pay is half of what my school job. That hurts but I am so much happier with the new one. Maybe I will get busy and open my store some day.
Good luck....you will do well.

How lovely are those Denyse Smith fabrics? I see we have more in common than just the love of creating, being nuts for fabric and making patchwork. Me too have a boring office job with decent pay where I sit and dream about opening up my very own Etsy shop. If I could sit and match fabric, sew and create all day long and make some pocket money on it that would be heaven... You go girl! I will stay tuned and see how you are doing. Exciting!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, and after all (I do love Denyse Smith) my fave in this post is the vintage sheet pillow. That binding just DOES IT!
ReplyDeletethese pillows are great and I think you would do real well on Etsy!! Besides, a bad job is just NOT worth it...pray, step out, and let the Lord guide you!!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, I wish you good luck for your Etsy Shop! Have a great week. Kindest regards Nicole
