Did December arrive in a flash? Or is it just me? I LOVE this month! The twinkle lights, the trees, the music and the smell of yummy things baking!
I have been having fun in the sewing room making a few gifts and a few ornaments for the tree.
I love having ornaments that represent the interests and personalities of my family, so I decided that this year's tree needed to have one of the pincushions that have been so popular here and in my shop. This one is a miniature version, and I think I may actually make a few minis as actual pincushions. The fabric is The Simple Life, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Baker's twine.
This ornament was inspired by the wonderful Helen Philipps, and the pattern for the heart is from her super cute book. Ornaments are such fun projects to sew, and they are so FAST to make and a great way to use up cute fabric scraps. Both ornaments are hanging on the tree in my kitchen, and my kitchen is a super happy place to be during December.
Love your little ornaments!! The fabric is the cutest, I have been making a few little things for my tree too! Helen's book is so sweet!

They are lovely, the mini pincushion is a wonderful idea. I am making tree ornaments and bunting, we decided to have a handmade Christmas this year.
ReplyDeleteYour mini pincushion ornament is soooo adorable, Debbie!! You make them so special because of your wonderful eye for colour and fabric mixing. And your heart decoration is so pretty...that is one of my favourite fabrics from the Simple Life collection, it looks beautiful as a heart and especially combined with the baker's twine :) And thank you so much for the linkys to me and my book, that is very sweet of you.
ReplyDeleteLove the bauble idea....I must try this!!
Have a happy crafty week.

ReplyDeleteSuch pretty little ornaments! I bet your tree is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHello Debbie
ReplyDeleteHandmade ornaments give such a personal touch and why not on a Christmas tree and of course your cathedral pin cushion shines there on your tree..... how lovely! Helen makes some gorgeous things too and I've been tempted to get one of her books.
I am seeing such original tree ornaments made by other bloggers .....and if I didn't have to work and now I have a sewing machine I'd be making making all day. I have finally got my tree up and it makes the house look so sparkly and jolly....I just love Christmas even the dreary shopping (sort of!).
Here's wishing you Debbie and your family a very merry Christmas and great things for the New year.
