Sugar Creek Revisited

Last fall, Sugar Creek by DS Quilts was my "go-to" fabric. I made quilts and pillows and stocked my brand new shop with what I made.

A year later, a sweet customer from Canada asked if I could make a quilt identical to one that had already sold. I was able to still track down the fabric, and made this toddler bed quilt. I switched out the original stripe pattern to a modern subway tile quilt pattern.

With the little leftover fabric I had, I made this super cute elephant. The pattern is by Retro Mama. Can you tell I LOVE her patterns???

I also made a Happy Little Pincushion. Just because....

Because I feel like doing a little giveaway!  Just leave a comment and tell me what you have been working on. I will pick a name on Friday and send the pincushion to the winner!! COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED.

Happy October!!

Edited To Add: Tell me about ANYTHING you are working on: quilting, sewing, cooking, photography, decorating, crocheting.... :)  and the giveaway is open to all my international friends too ♥

  6. I have been trying to finish some WIP's of the knitting/crochet kind but seem to have accidentally had a rummage in my fabric cupboard and started a small quilt.

    I'll never learn!!

  7. Love the colors in that fabric collection! I am currently working on a baby quilt for a friend and trying to get my wedding "guest book" quilt started...it's only been about a year since my wedding!

  8. Love the blues and greens! Such a cute little elephant too.

Almost afraid to say, my personal stash contains tidy size pieces of fabric from the 1980's when I first learned to quilt! So, if I ever need a piece to patch or repair I've got it ready to hand. Right now, I'm unpicking (yes, unpicking) 5 finished blocks from a quilt as you go Queen size sampler quilt because I just discovered alpaca wadding/batting and have decided that this is what I would like in this quilt. Lucky it is only 5 finished blocks and I'd not put them together other than the backing layer.

  9. I am busy making the last one of 4 quilt tops for Christmas presents, I will then have a mammoth layering, basting and quilting session. At the same time I am learning to crochet something other than Granny squares. In between I have been shopping with my daughter who would like quilts for herself and my granddaughters. I have also been checking out tutorials on Cathedral Windows so a pincushion would be made most welcome.

I just this afternoon finished crocheting a shawl for myself. Most of what I make is to sell or give as gifts so I get real excited when I finish something for me :)

  14. Lovely quilt and Elephant, makes me want to add to this list! I've been in the mood to sew, so I've been working on a few things-a patchwork quilt for a friend, my wool squares for a wall hanging and my Farmer's Wife blocks, which I am so incredibly behind on! Also getting geared up to do some Halloween banners-why won't people leave me alone and just let me sew :)

  15. I'm sewing my farmer's wife topper (and have a pinnie already cut out for next weekend); a cross-stitch sampler (which is taking ages) and I've just started a Rowan jacket! I like to be able to switch between projects! Love your makes.

  19. Every month this year I've created an apron pocket that buttons on for my best friend of 50 + years. This month I am working on embroidering one for November...a rendition of a live turkey labeled "before" next to a roasted turkey on a platter...the "after". I'm sure she'll find it hilarious.

But I've also cut some squares to make a fall-ish table runner, and I need to start a hang quilting a mini quilt. I've also got a basket of hexagons within reach that I work on as the mood strikes. ;)

  40. Hi Debbi, your elephant is super cute. I really don't expect to win another giveaway but wanted to reply anyway. I have just finished a toadstool pincushion for a friend and have now started my 4th craft bag made out of hexagons using EPP which will also be for a friends' birthday.

  41. My son is getting married in two weeks so I am just finishing up the last of a loooong list of projects for that---two sets of little boy knickers for the ring bearers to wear. One of them will carry a sweet pillow and his brother is carrying a sign, "Here Comes the Bride!" So cute! I'll be glad to be finished so I can get back to one of the three quilts I'm working on! Would love to be entered in your giveaway!

  42. Elephants are my favourites - I've been lucky enough to experience them up close in the wild and they are so beautiful. But your little one has to be counted amongst the cutest! I'm sewing the binding on a quilt, crocheting stars for another garland and knitting cable cushion covers - all three WIPs on the go at the same time, depending on what I'm in the mood for at any given time of the day!!

  43. I'm more full of big ideas than I am of actually working on things! But I have been fiddling around with beadwork, scherenschnitte, and some hand sewing. Thinking about taking up the harp. See? Big ideas. :)

The pincushion (and the elephant too) is adorable. Thank you for the chance to win!

I've just finished making a play mat for my nieces baby (due any time now) and a peg bag for my friends birthday, and at the moment I'm working on designs to screen print. I've just joined a class so I can learn to print my own fabric for little projects. Jilly
